Our opponent on Saturday did not start the NB III league season well, but after the arrival of János Mátyus, Sopron won their last match against Nagykanizsa.
On Saturday at 18:00 we play SC Sopron in the MOL Hungarian Cup. Our NB III opponent did not start this season well. Sopron only picked up 4 points in the first 6 rounds and head coach Norbert Németh resigned. His replacement was János Mátyus, who gave the Sopron team a new boost, as the first match under his management was won 4-1 by the red and whites at home to Nagykanizsa in the last round.
One of Sopron's best players is Noel Kustor, who won the top scorer title in the NB III Western Group with 23 goals last season. Interestingly, since the summer, the home team's sporting director is Tibor Végh, who has played the most NB I matches in Vidi's history.
The last Sopron - Vidi match was played in the top league on the 12th April 2008 - or it would have been, because in that season the Hungarian FA revoked Sopron's license, so in the 23rd round our team got the 3 league points with a 3-0 goal difference. The last time Vidi's first team played in the Sopron stadium was 15 years ago, in the 2nd round of the 2006/2007 season, which we lost 2-1 in the city based in the west of the country.
