Hungary were in Nations League action on Sunday following their memorable 2-1 win over Iceland days earlier, which saw them qualify for the European Championships. A goal from Konyves back in October secured a 1-0 win in Belgrade and Russia beat Turkey 3-2 earlier in the day meaning that a win would see Hungary top the group. 

North Macedonia had both Nikolov and Musliu in the side as they beat Estonia 2-1 to remain top of their group. They also qualified for the EC in the summer of 2021 a few days ago. 

Hungary had Nemanja Nikolic in the starting XI. Vidi keeper Emil Rockov took his place on the Serbian bench. Serbia went ahead after good individual skill from Radonjic after 17 minutes saw him place the ball in the net (0-1). Hungary were level after 39 minutes: Nikolic doing well to find Kalmar inside the box, who remained calm to slip the ball beyond the Serbian keeper (1-1). The two sides went in at the break with the score level.

Nikolic was replaced on 57 minutes by Konyves while Nego replaced Siger to take his place in midfield. Nego had scored the important equaliser days earlier against Iceland to put his name in the history books. Yet another Fehervar player came on after 68 minutes with Szilveszter Hangya taking his place in defence.

The action continued with Serbia shooting on goal on 71 minutes through Radonjic. His 23 meter effort going wide of the target. Former Vidi player Adam Gyurcso came on for the last 10 minutes and was quickly in the action down the left wing. 

The match ended in a 1-1 draw with both Russia and Hungary topping the group with 8 points from the 5 matches so far. However, a worse goal difference sees the Hungarians in second. Hungary take on Turkey on Wednesday.
