Iceland led 1-0 in the 88th minute but Szekesfehervari goals clinched a great win.

On Thursday night, the Hungarian national team played the most important international match of recent years at the Puskás Arena against Iceland. The stakes were high and a place at the 2020 European Championships - which will be held in the summer of 2021 due to the pandemic. When the game kicked off at 20:45, two Vidi players would have made it to the European Championships, as North Macedonia won 1-0 in Georgia with Musliu and Nikolov part of their side.
Hungary kicked off with Vidi defender Attila Fiola at the back. Iceland started the more active with Palsson sending his close range header on 5 minutes at Gulacsi, who saved. However, things turned as Iceland went ahead after Sigurdsson shot from 20 meters following a free kick, which slipped through the hands of Gulacsi and nestled in the back of the Hungarian net (0-1).
The visiting keeper held onto a shot from Holender after 17 minutes while a Szoboszlai cross was headed at goal five minutes later. Gulacsi was again on hand to deny Finnbogason. Botka did well to deny Iceland from doubling their lead when he cleared ahead of Bjarnason. It was Iceland who went in at the break leading by a single goal.
Neither side made a change at half time. Hungary went very close to levelling after 53 minutes. The move ended with Szalai shooting with his left foot at goal, but Palsson tipped the ball over from under his bar. Sallai tried to set up a goal for Hungary but the ball went over the bar from 14 meters. Vidi forward Nemanja Nikolic came on for Hungary after 71 minutes. He was followed by another Vidi player Loic Nego 13 minutes later. Hungary pressed forward and put plenty of pressure on the Icelandic goal.
And the game turned on 88 minutes when Nikolic set up Nego, who made no mistake inside the box to find the bottom corner of the net. (1-1). Things did not end then!
Szekesfehervar born Dominik Szoboszlai sent the ball into the back of the net from 17 meters to help Hungary come from behind and make it 2-1.
Hungary qualify with a 2-1 win and will be at the European Championships as they were in 2016.
