The first competitive match of 2020 was played in Sotogrand, Spain on Friday afternoon. The opponents were Swiss second division side Winterthur. The starting line-up was: Gundel-Takács Bence – Fiola, Juhász, Vinícius, Hangya – Elek, Nikolov, Szabó Bálint – Milanov, Hodzic, Petryak.

The first attack came on 10 minutes when Milanov released Petryak, who went past the defender before crossing for Hodzic, but Lekaj was able to clear it for a corner. The Swiss club were awarded a free kick on 15 minutes with Roberto Alves standing behind the ball. His shot went wide of the post. A free kick from Milanov 10 minutes later did not cause problems for the Swiss side. The game was 27 minutes old when Winterthur hit a quick counter attack. It ended with Buess trying to beat the Vidi keeper, but Gundel-Takacs was able to save it. Balint Szabo played the ball to Hangya after 36 minutes, who played it on to Hodzic. The Bosnian forward sent a strong shot under the bar, but Spiegel dealt with it and denied him. There was still time before half time for a Nikolov free kick to come back off the wall and into the hands of the Swiss keeper. The sides went in at the break with the score at 0-0.

Both managers made changes at half time. Vidi came out for the second period as follows: Gundel-Takács Bence – Fiola, Tamás Olivér, Musliu, Stopira – Nego, Nyári, Pátkai – Zsóri, Futács, Bamgboye. 

The first real chance of the second half arrived on 64 minutes when Sliskovic shot at goal from 14 meters, but his low effort was collected by Gundel-Takacs. Zsori took a free kick four minutes later close to the touchline. However, substitute keeper Milosavljevics did not have to make a save. Another Zsori free kick after 82 minutes found Stopira, who actually put the ball into the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Radice scored the winning goal close to the final whistle following a corner to give Winterthur a 1-0 win.
