"I am extremely proud and grateful to have been there on the pitch at the new Puskas Arena opening match against Uruguay. It was a great feeling to play in front of so many supporters. This fantastic feeling will remain with me even if it was just a friendly match. The great atmosphere created by the 67,000 lifted us all. We are a little bit disappointed that we could not pick up a draw at least. We are clear with the fact that Uruguay are among the top sides in World football. We carried out our work honourably but at the same time the build up to both Uruguay goals involved some classical play. Perhaps we showed too much respect to our opponents in the first half and were not aggressive enough. Things were better in the second half and we were not afraid to go into the battles. Sadly Zsolt Kalmar picked up an injury and I also received treatment on the pitch. Fortunately I did not suffer any problems. We are all looking forward to the key match on Tuesday against Wales. We will do all we can to try and make it through the group next week. It would be fantastic to be able to play in the European Championships at this Arena next summer" - commented Istvan Kovacs.
