Vidi were in Hungarian Cup action on Saturday morning at the home of NB III side Eger. There were around 800 inside the stadium with several making the journey from Fehervar.
The game started with a chance for Vidi, which saw mainly Petryak and Milanov active. Also posing danger to the home goal were Futacs and Hodzic. However, the visitors did not score in the early exchanges. Hodzic went the closest when his shot struck the post. The majority of play was concentrated inside the home sides half. Milanov took several corner kicks but either a defender of keeper Nacsa dealt with what came their way. Then totally unexpectedly, Eger went ahead on the 42nd minute: Pataki turned and found the bottom right corner to make it 1-0.
Vidi manage to sort things out at the break and they turned the game around inside the first five minutes of the second period. First Hodzic curled a lovely ball into the bottom left (1-1), before Stopira crossed for Futacs to score from close range (1-2).
Vidi continued to press forward and attack after taking the lead. Once again the majority of play was inside the Eger half. Nego and Petryak sent shots wide of the target. The home keeper was well placed to save a header from Milanov, while substitute Patkai also tried his luck. A 78th minute cross from Milanov ended with Nikolov controlling the ball and hitting the back of the net from 10 meters to make it 1-3 after the ball went in off the post.
Arvai scored a consolation goal for Eger three minutes later to make the final 10 minutes exciting. However, Vidi scored their fourth goal of the morning to make it 4-2 when Nikolov struck from 2 meters out following good skill by Kovacs.
The final whistle blew and Vidi made it into the last 64 of the cup with a win over Eger. The next round will be played on the 30th October with Marko Nikolic' side next in action against Ujpest next Saturday at the MOL Arena Sosto.
