The legendary former player was 60 years old.

Gabor Horvath sadly passed away after a short illness on the 17th September. His son, also named Gabor Horvath, communicated the news. The Vidi legend celebrated his 60th birthday in the spring.
Gabor Horvath was born in Kislang and started to play for the clubs youth team at a young age from 1979. His NB I debut came under then manager Mihaly Lantos in season 1978-79 in a match against Dunaujvaros, which Vidi won 3-2 away. The 20 year old player went on to play until 1991 and during that time played in at least 27 games a season.
He helped Vidi to two third place finishes and also played in the 1982 Hungarian Cup final. He was also a member of the Videoton team that made it to the UEFA Cup final. In fact he played in all 12 games together with Burcsa and Vegh. He made 317 NB I league appearances, which is the 3rd highest behind Vegh and Karsai. He scored 5 goals in total and had a brief period towards the end of his career in Austria. He continued to work for Vidi following the end of his playing career. That included becoming technical director in 1993, which he served for a decade. He would also go on to coach in the youth system and also the women's team. His last position at the club was as the manager of the Vidi Museum, which was opened recently.
Rest in Peace Gabor Horvath.
