We have been talking to Vidi's new signing who has had a busy summer.
Our club announced a few days ago on the 25th June that it had signed Romanian youth international defender Adrian Rus.
A fiatal futballista nem vett részt a MOL Vidi FC ausztriai edzőtáborában, ugyanis a román U21-es válogatottal a korosztályos Eb-n szerepelt, melyet Olaszországban és San Marinóban rendeztek meg ezen a nyáron. Romania were drawn in a tough group at the U21 championships with Croatia, England and France. They managed to beat Croatia 4-1 in the first game. There was a very eventful game against the English, which after 76 minutes, stood at 0-0, but there were 6 goals in the end and a 4-2 win for Rus and his team mates. The final game of the group was a goalless draw with France. They went through top of the group and have now automatically qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic games. Romania last managed this 56 years ago in the Japanese capital.
Adrian Rus played in one of the games against France and we spoke to Vidi's new signing:
"It was a massive feeling for me and the whole team to be at the Championships. We travelled out to the competition with the feeling inside that we were capable of achieving something big. Our aim was to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and we have managed that. Our games were played in a fantastic atmosphere and there were so many Romanian supporters there. Although we beat Croatia 4-1, it was not an easy game at all. The real catalyst was achieved against England. It was unbelievable that the game stood at 0-0 at 76 minutes. Then the goals began going in and the score after 87 minutes was 2-2. We led twice but the English levelled quickly. We scored two further goals after 89 and 93 minutes to win 4-2. I am very grateful to the Romanian manager Mirel Radoi who counted on me. I played in a competitive game three months before the tournament started. Sadly we ended up losing to Germany but we still put up a fight. We fought with all we had and led at half time 2-1. We then had two controversial goals conceded. I am generally happy that after 56 years, we have made it to the Olympics. The reception that we received when we flew home at the airport was unbelievable" - commented Adrian Rus who revealed that he will link up with his new club on the 6th July after getting extra days off to relax.
