The first friendly game of the year took place at the Coini Jose Burgos Stadium against four times German champions Kaiserslautern. They are currently playing their football in the third division of Germany. Marko Nikolic fielded the following side for the first half: Tujvel - Nego, Juhász, Tóth, Tamás K. - Milanov, Nikolov, Elek, Sós - Futács, Scepovics. There were around 100 German supporters in the stands and a few Hungarians. Also present were Puskas Academy FC's new manager Janos Radoki and Vilmos Vanczak.

Vidi went on the attack and had a chance in the first minute. Scepovic laid the ball to the feet of Futacs, who his a low left shot that Lennart parried out for a corner. Vidi keeper Tujvel was also called into action after 5 minutes when Biada took a 35 meter free kick, which the keeper punched out and he then reacted well to deny the follow up. A 13th minute Milanov free kick hit the wall and went out for a corner. Nikolov took it and his ball in was headed home by Roland Juhasz to make it 1-0. It was also the first Vidi goal of 2019.

There was 16 minutes on the clock when Kuhlwetter found himself with a shot on goal, but he could not hit the target. A cross from the left after 24 minutes ended with a shot from Sos that Lennert saved, with the rebound falling to Futacs, but the keeper was well placed to pull off a double save. Mads took a quick free kick 2 minutes later, which found the unmarked Biada, who saw his shot come back off the right post from 16 meters out.

The match was half an hour old when Scepovic ran with the defender and unselfishly played the ball to Futacs, but the keeper did well and Kraus was waiting on his own goal line to clear the danger. Biada was the most dangerous player for the German side and he shot from 14 meters after 42 minutes, but Tujvel comfortably saved the effort. There were two further Tujvel saves at the end of the first half, with the keeper saving first with his feet and then with his hand. 

The German side changed their team at half time while only Loic Nego remained on the pitch for Vidi. That meant a team of: Kovácsik - Nego, Vinícius, Mocsi, Hangya - Kovács, Berecz, Pátkai, Huszti - Elvir Hadzic, Hodzic that ran out for the second half. Vidi started the second period well and doubled their lead when a cross from Nego was converted into the back of the net by Hodzic 2-0. 

Jonjic hit a shot for Kaiserslautern after 58 minutes, which Kovacsik reached to deny him. The ball was mainly in the middle of the pitch in the period that followed. Hodzic hit an attractive goal after 83 minutes, which the German keeper allowed into the net but the referee had blown his whistle for a foul. There was no further change to the score in the minutes that remained and MOL Vidi FC comfortably won 2-0 in the first friendly game of the new year.
