Marko Futacs linked up with the rest of the Vidi players at the Budapest international airport on Saturday afternoon. The player who has been capped 3 times for Hungary and was also top goalscorer in the Croatian league has agreed to a deal to continue his career in Szekesfehervar.
Most recently with Hajduk Split in Croatia, the forward was born in Budapest on the 22nd February 1990. He signed for the French Nancy academy at the young age of 16. It was in 2009 that he signed for Werder Bremen and played for them in the German Super cup, but he also played regularly for their second team. He became a key figure for the Hungarian U20 side, which picked up bronze at the U20 World Cup as he played in each of the 7 games. Futacs scored in the semi-final game against Ghana. He moved for a season to Bundesliga 2 side Ingolstadt, before a move to Portsmouth in England and further spells with Leicester and Blackpool.
He returned to Hungary and DVTK in season 2013/14 and helped them to the league cup final win and a Hungarian cup finalist. He played regularly with Akos Elek during that period. It was at this time that he played for Hungary in March 2014 against Finland. Another period abroad followed and 2 years in the Turkish top division with Mersin Idamnyurdu. In 2016 he signed for Hajduk Split after not extending his deal in Turkey. His first season resulted in 21 goals in 28 games with 18 in the league. That was enough to make him the top goalcorer for that season. His second year with Split gave him 3 goals in 17 games.
