Mate Patkai: I want to go as far as possible in the Champions League

The midfielder was on international duty recently and has only had a short break before returning to pre-season with Videoton.

"I am very happy that we won the league title. We were neck and neck with Ferencvaros from practically the first minute. There were times when the team from the capital led and others when we were top. I feel that in the end it was subtle differences that went in our favour. The most important out of this is that we remained more together than Fradi, which was enough for us to win the title. Naturally there were other things that were needed throughout the season and there were not only good individual performances, but the team played really well many times. We deserved to win the league taking everything into account. The break has not been long as I headed to the national team straight after the season finished. I was delighted to get the chance again to be called up by my country. I hope that the manager will continue to count on me in the future. I had a week to have a holiday, which I spent together with my family in Balatonfured. The Austrian training camp will begin next week. We will not only be preparing for the new NB I season, but also for the European competition. Naturally everybody says at times like these that it would be great to make it into the group stage of either the Champions League or the Europa League. We have to remain realistic and understand that it has become much harder to qualify for the Champions League group stage for a Hungarian side. We we still give all we have in Europe and would like to go as far as possible" - commented Mate Patkai.
