Videoton beat ETO in an exciting game back in December 1973. It was an enjoyable match played at a good tempo with chances in front of both goals. A Stolcz shot on 8 minutes came back off the post. The visiting players adjusted better to the slippery pitch. Wollek found the back of the net after 33 minutes, but the ball had made contact with his hand and the goal was disallowed. Manager Jozsef Kovacs complained at half time that his players had not carried out what he had asked of them in the first half. 

Vidi started the second half at a far better and the Győr keeper was called upon to save his side several times. Csukovics and Tiber stretched the play and they became quicker on the attack. The lead came after 76 minutes when Tiber scored Vidi's first. Borbely only managed to punch a free kick away, which bounced in front of Tiber, who from 10 meters made no mistake. A good one two involving Tiber and Karsai made it 3-0 shortly after Tiber scored his second. The game was played at a high level from the first minute until the last. The substitutes played a big part in securing this win over ETO.

The game started with plenty of excitement for the 8000 inside the stadium. There were chances at both end of the pitch. Kovacs took a free kick on 17 minutes, that lifted into the opponents box. Dajka tried to clear the ball for Honved, but Csucsanszky was quick to pounce, and his shot from 20 meters flew into the back of the net. It went straight into the top left corner off the post. Kovacs curled a free kick after 23 minutes towards the opponents goal. Keeper Andrusch only half punched the ball clear, but it fell to Novath, who made no mistake from 13 meters. There were not too many notable moments in the second half. Title holders Honved had no chance to get back into the game as the Fehervar side kept their grip on the game.

Manager Gabor Hartyani went with surprising tactics for the league game with FTC. He chose to play 3 forwards after the previous 2 games ended in defeat. His decision paid off as Vidi would end up winning the game and picking up the points.

A hatrick from Videoton forward Ferenc Horvath did the damage in front of 5000, which was a disappointing figure. TV coverage effected the amount as 18000 would have come out to watch this big game in normal circumstances.
