The best league start to a season that included European competition

Vidi picked up 19 points from 8 games in 2013-14 and in 1984-85, but the red and blues have bettered that start this season.

Videoton FC managed to better the Hungarian sides in this years Europa League. Marko Nikolic has managed his team to an equally impressive league start with 20 points from the opening 8 games. That has put Vidi top of the league table with a 5 points lead. They currently remain unbeaten in the OTP bank league ahead of second placed Honved. The excellent start has also broken the history records.

Vidi have qualified for European competition 15 times over the years. (We have not included the intertoto cup that was run pre-1995), but Videoton have never been able to pick up more than 19 points after 8 league games. The unbeaten run is also a record in a season that included either Champions League or Europa League football.

The Szekesfehervar club has managed to come close to the current performance three times previously. The season when Vidi first won the league title in 2010/11 saw 5 wins, 2 draws and a defeat from the opening 8. That gave them 17 points as a result. 2013-14 was even better as well as 1984-85 when 19 points were collected each time. Those saw 6 wins and a draw from the first 8 league matches.

Although new records have not been broken when it comes to scoring goals, Danko Lazovic has already hit 6 NBI goals for Vidi. Nemanja Nikolic leads that list from the 2013-14 season when he scored 9 goals from the first 8 league games. Andre Alves (2010-11) and Janos Nagy (1976-77) both scored 7 goals. The Serbian forward is hot on their heels already. Robert Feczesin (2016-17) and Laszlo Tieber (1976-77) also scored 6 goals each.
