Ferenc Horvath: I hope that we will make a good start

The Vidi head coach gave a lengthy interview about the pre-season and the spring season ahead.

– Pre-season has gone on for a little bit more than a month now. There will be a Hungarian cup match against Ferencvaros on Wednesday as the spring season begins. At what stage are Vidi at following the shorter than usual break in the season?

– We received an exact picture of the players during their tests, which told us the condition they were in. We then took the results and worked out exactly what work was needed to make sure the team would be in good condition for the start. The emphasis was placed on this during the first week. Then as time went by, we concentrated on the team being fresh.

– The squad spent 10 days in Spain, with a further 4 in Austria. What experiences were picked up during the two training camps?

– The facilities in Spain were very good, from the pitches to meals. Everything was in place to make sure the players only had to carry out the planned work. We then had a four day camp in Austria, which included a game against Maribor. I can say looking back that it was very worthwhile going out there and playing a quality side. Perhaps this was the most important part of our pre-season.

– Two experienced players, Patrik Tischler and Zsolt Haraszti linked up with the squad in Valencia. They have featured in several of the friendly games since. How have they blended in with the others during this period?

– There were no problems with them blending in. They had already completed work with their previous clubs, but needed some time to adjust completely. They are heading in the right direction and there will not be any problems.

– The team played a total of 9 friendly games. What were the biggest experiences from those games? You mentioned previously that you would like to see your team play with more aggression over the spring.

– Yes, and I could see the improvement during the friendly games. We could not change the playing style, but try to include new elements and also work hard on our weaker areas.

– The spring season will kick off with two big away games next week. What are you expecting from the matches against Ferencvaros and Ujpest?

– I hope that the players believe in the work they have done and that we can make a good start. The results could give us a push and boost for the second half of the season. I could say that we have away games coming up after our two matches against the teams from the capital. We will not be playing our games in Szekesfehervar, but I hope that our supporters will come out in nice numbers and create a good atmosphere. That will help us to feel at home at the Pancho Arena. The players will give their all to make sure that it will be worth coming out to back the side.
