DVTK ended last season in seventh place in the league table. That meant a disappointment for the side from Miskolc. Former manager Tomiszlav Szivics lost his job after the 25th week of the season and former DVTK legend, Zoltan Vitelki replaced him for the next 5 matches. Those games produced a very good haul of 13 points. Balazs Beko arrived in the summer and took charge after ending last season as manager of Kecskemet.

There were changes to the playing squad with Gabor Bori, Andras Gosztonyi, Lazar Marjanovics, William Alves, Julian Jenner and Milos Krsztics leaving. Defender Zoltan Liptak arrived as did Mark Nikhazi, who returned following a loan spell with Dunaujvaros. Promising youngster Miklos Kitl also arrived in Miskolc during the summer.

The new season started with a home win over Vasas. They then lost four matches in a row as Balazs Beko's side slid down the table. Week 7 saw a win for the DVTK supporters with a 2-1 win over Ujpest. Saturday's opponents have played six matches away from home and have won just once. There have been three defeats and two drawn games. Five goals have been scored while a total of twelve have gone in at the other end. Liptak and co have only been able to win away at Vasas so far this season. DVTK have not been able to win at the Sostoi stadium for 17 years when they last secured 3 points in 1998.
