The Egyptian super cup final was held on the 15th October in the UAE instead of Egypt for political reasons. A Portuguese agency invited several clubs to watch the match. Those included Werder Bremen and Benfica, while Vidi were represented by Zoltan Kovacs and Zsolt Hadnagy.

"One of the largest Portuguese agencies invited us to take part. We picked up plenty of positive experiences from our trip. I can honestly say that I was not expecting the standard to be as high as it was over the 90 minutes. I am not thinking here about the tempo but the players capability as well. There was a great atmosphere and the high level final in a lovely stadium added to everything.
