Jeno Buzanszky - the final member of the Hungarian golden team passes away

He was the last member of the Hungarian golden team of the 1950's. Jeno Buzanszky would have been 90 in May.

Jeno Buzanszky, was born on the 4th May 1925, and went on to play for the Hungarian national team 49 times. He was a member of the Olympic winning side at the 1952 Helsinki games, and was part of the Hungarian side that won at Wembley in 1953. He played in all 5 matches at the 1954 World Cup finals in Switzerland, including the final in Berne, where he picked up a runners up medal. Buzanszky made 274 first division appearances for Dorog, and also played a further 56 games in the second division. He also scored 25 goals during his career. He went on to manager Dorogi Banyasz, and then for both Esztergom Vasas and Fosped Szallitok.

Jeno went on to become the President of the local county, and was also on the vice president's committee at the Hungarian FA. The local Dorog stadium was named after him in 2010. He spent a period in hospital at the end of last year before Christmas. He was operated on twice, but failed to gain strength after these. He passed away at the local Esztergom hospital on Sunday evening at 8pm.
