We have already mentioned in a previous article how only Zenit have a better start to the current season, with the Russian side also enjoying a 100% record as Vidi.

We were also interested to find out which clubs have a long unbeaten run as our own. The answer out of the several hundred first division sides is six, who have a longer run without defeat than Videoton.

Icelandic side FH Hafnarfjardar last lost last summer, and have seen 25 matches pass by unbeaten. Norwegian club Molde and Belarus club BATE Borisov have gone 22 without losing, while Icelandic UMF Stjarman are on 19 and Bosnian team Sarajevo are two behind on 17. Their northern neighbours Trenčín have gone 16 league games undefeated in their domestic league.

It is interesting to note that Benfica last lost at the home of Porto by a 2-1 scoreline on the 10th May 2014. (They have since put together a run of 5 games without losing in the Portuguese league.) They had previously not lost since August 2013 (that run was ended against Maritimo 2-1). This means that they went 28 league games without a team managing to beat Benfica in between those two 2-1 defeats. That run of 28 games as an undefeated series of games is a record in Europe.

Another interesting factor is Moldovian first division club FC Saxan, who after 8 league matches remain unbeaten in their league. With them having been in the second division last season, their 8 match run is included in the table below.

Partizan in Serbia brought the 15 match unbeaten run of Crvena Zvezda to an end in April, but Zvezda have gone on another run and are again without defeat in 10 games. Partizan also last tasted defeat in April, and the Serbian league leaders have won their 11 games since.

We were also keen to find out how many teams there are who have not conceded a goal as Vidi have. This is another good run with 474 minutes having passed since the ball ended up in the Vidi net. Only Slovenian club Domžale (900 minutes), Italian leaders Juventus (621 minutes) and the previously mentioned Moldovan side FC Saxan (581 minutes) as well as Serbian club Crvena Zvezda (554 minutes) are ahead of Vidi.
