The development of the Sostoi stadium will be funded by the Government. The money will come out of the budgets from 2014 and 2015 at a cost of 9 billion forint. Government commissioner Mr Laszlo Vigh spoke about the project: "The local council owned the stadium and this will not change in the future. The local council will be the constructors, while the Government commissioner will assist in coordinating the project on behalf of the Hungarian Government. We will now begin the planning stage, while survey's will be carried out, with a prediction of the new stadium being completed by the end of 2015, or the start of 2016. I would like there to be plans of the new stadium for the supporters, as we have experienced in other projects that it increases interest. The plans will also determine exactly when the works can begin, which will result in the area not being used for a period. Naturally the club, city and Government negotiations will also influence when the implementation can commence, but I cannot give concrete dates at the moment."

Council leader Mr Cser-Palkovics András commented that it had been an easy decision to make. He highlighted the fact that in Hungary, Budapest, Debrecen and Szekesfehervar will all have stadiums, which will be suitable to host UEFA category 4 matches. 

Videoton FC owner Istvan Garancsi also shared his thoughts on the news: "I am delighted that the decision has been made to develop the stadium. As tenants we will use the facilities, but naturally all our knowledge gained will be passed on to the designers, who will use their experience from the stadium constructions of both Debrecen and Ferencvaros to benefit this project. We will not be building a new stadium in Szekesfehervar, but further renovating the existing stadium, so we will have to tie in plenty of compromises before we reach the end of the program. We will try to get the most out of the potential of the situation. The main building will remain, with the stand opposite and the two behind each goal, becoming closer to the pitch. We hope to have a covered, cauldron like stadium as a final result."
