OTP League Division One |
The game kicked off in murky weather conditions, with close to 1000 visiting Videoton supporters in full voice behind the goal. The teams went at each other from the first whistle, and it was clear to see that both sides wanted to win the game. There were shots at both goals with Kleinheisler testing the ETO keeper early on, while Lang did the same for Győr.
It was Győri ETO who went ahead after 18 minutes on the clock. A corner found its way to Liptak, who crossed from the goal line, and Patkai headed it into the back of the net from virtually a meter out.
Juhasz flicked a header wide of the goal, while Andric hit the post with his effort before the equalising goal. Kleinheisler took a corner on 35 minutes, which was met by a good Juhasz strike, which went in under the bar to level.
The remainder of the first half saw Vidi pushing forward, but the defenders were able to cope with anything that came their way. The heavy rain also made things difficult with the pitch becoming slippery.
The second half started at a great pace, with Vidi squeezing Győr inside their own half for the first 10 minutes. Kleiheisler tried with a left footed effort, which sailed wide of the post. Kovacs also showed good skills throughout the game, but neither side could find the winning goal. The biggest chance came on 64 minutes, with substitute Zé Luis adding another dimension to Vidi's attack. Zé Luis latched onto a long ball, before doing really well to play the ball to Nikolics, who shot low, but a home defender managed to clear the effort off the line. There were also several yellow cards shown by match official Kassai, with Mevoungou, Kamber, Wolfe and Liptak all finding their names into the book. Gyurcso could have won the match for Vidi, but his free kicked curled just wide of the post.
The game ended with the points shared and Vidi's unbeaten start to the season continuing. The visiting supporters applauded their side off the pitch at the end of the match.
