Vidi kicked off the new league season in the blazing heat, which reached around 37c on Sunday afternoon. There were around 4,000 inside the Sostoi stadium, and those who chose to were not disappointed by what they saw. Haladas, who played in an all-white kit had the first chance after three minutes. It needed a great save from Spanish keeper Calatayud, who was making his league debut in the colours of Vidi, to keep out the visitor's effort. Schimmer took a free kick for Haladas six minutes later from around 30 meters out. The ball came back off the post as the score remained goaless. Gyorgy Sandor, who spent last spring on loan in Saudi Arabia, saw a good shot saved well by Rozsa. It was not long after that the breakthrough came for the home side.

Young Laszlo Kleinheisler scored his first ever goal in a competitive game for Vidi. It was a very good solo effort, which saw him come in from the wing before hitting a sweet shot with the outside of his foot from 15 meters out. The goalscorer was then brought down in the 35th minute by Nagy, which the match official did not punish. Half time was approaching when Kleinheisler got hold of the ball, and he passed the ball forward towards Alvarez, which resulted in Nikolics being played through on goal, and the forward kept his composure to make it 2-0, by neatly slipping the ball past Rozsa. Referee Ando-Szabo blew for half time and Vidi went in at the break with a two goal lead.

Haladas manager Tamas Artner made two changes at the break, but it did not change the pattern of the match. Nikolics could have made it 3-0 to the Fehervar side, but Rozsa came to the rescue of the Szombathely team. Chances in the second half were mainly centred on set-pieces. Gyurcso came on as a substitute, and he could have extended the lead after 68 minutes. Calatayud dealt well with a Halmosi corner, from which Vinicius broke away with the ball. He passed the ball through to Gyurcso, who ran on goal, before seeing his shot saved well by the feet of Rozsa.

Szolnoki also had an effort on goal soon after, which saw the ball go just wide. There was no further change to the score, but the last major talking point in the match resulted in Haladas being reduced to ten men. Ugrai kicked the ball away after being flagged for off-side, which saw the frontman receive his second caution and a red card. Vidi kicked off the season with a confident home win, which will hopefully prove a good springboard for the rest of the 2013-2014 season. A trip to the Puskas Ferenc stadium next week sees Vidi up against Ferencvaros.
