Vidi will travel to Vac, which Eger currently use as their home ground in league matches
The two clubs first came up against each other on the 19th September 1971. The game was played in front of 5000 in Eger, with the home side emerging 2-0 winners. One interesting fact about that game was the manager of Eger. Ferenc Kovacs, who is the Honorary President of Videoton FC today, sat on the Eger bench 41 years ago.

March 1st 1985 - Vidi were 3-1 winners away in Eger . | ||
The two sides met again almost half a year later, on the 28th May 1972, in Szekesfehervar. Ferenc Kovacs was the manager of Eger in that match, while the Videoton boss was Geza Kalocsay. Vidi went on to pick up one of their biggest ever wins in the first division. They led 3-0 at half time, before going on to score five more in the 8-0 win. Gabor Hartyani scored the first goal that day for the Fehervar side, and he went on to be coach to Ferenc Kovacs during Videoton's famous UEFA cup run to the final.
There was a wait of 12 years before the two met up once more. That came on the 2nd December 1984, with Vidi winning 3-1 in that league match. Ferenc Kovacs was the manager of Videoton by then, while Janos Csank sat on the visiting bench. One interesting fact about Csank was that he went on to manage both teams, and even more impressively helped get both Vidi and Eger promoted to the first division. Our last two games with Eger happened back in the 1986-87 season. Vidi lost the home game at the Sostoi stadium by a single goal, while the pair met up again on the 11th April 1987, but that game failed to produce a goal.
Videoton travel to play Eger , in the northern Hungarian city of Vac, as Eger's own stadium is currently not up to league standard. The two sides previously met back in August, with Vidi leaving it late to win 2-1 at the Sostoi stadium. Eger are currently in the bottom two of the OTP league, and will need to start picking up points if they are to avoid being relegated. A win for Vidi would further close the gap on the league leaders, and would send out another positive message to the others that Vidi mean business!
