What was the reason that you chose Videoton?

Before I arrived at Videoton FC, I also had other offers, but I did not want to work at a club where the aim was simply to stay in the first division. It is very important for me that I can carry out quality work. Videoton FC is a European standard club, that longs for more. It is already a very well organized club, but it is trying to reach higher standards in all areas. The expectation is to qualify for European competition each year. The clubs thinking is my thinking, as I am a big believer in continuous development. I feel that Videoton FC should be fighting for the domestic league championship each season. It is a totally different feeling when you are working in order to win each game, than for the target to be avoiding defeat. The two main key points that I chose Videoton were the organization and the good facilities, as well as the fact that everyone wanted results. I know that when my boss wants results, it puts pressure on me, but this is exactly what I like: to work under pressure. I would like to put this good pressure onto the players as well, so that we can try and win together. 

What are your most important principles in being a coach?

I would like to direct games by possession. There are teams, which allow certain areas and the ball to the opponent, and then try to control things by directing events in their own territory. I would prefer if a team controls ball possession. A high technical capability is required for this possession, as you have to pass a lot, or rather you have to handle the ball well and be able to receive passes well. This is the kind of playing style that I like most. I am a believer in attacking football, and I even like it when the full backs play a part in attacks, but you need technical player for this, and naturally a good quality pitch, as it is not possible to pass so much on a bad quality surface. This is why other tactical elements are needed as well. In those situations where you lose possession, the team needs to restrict the time and space from which the opponent can build attacks. This is where putting the opponent under pressure is required. I would like my team to play differently when we have the ball and also when we are trying to get it back.

I grew up and I saw the Hungarian side play in as slightly different style, but they were still very similar and played football with plenty of passing. I saw them play such lovely attacking football. I would like to give some of this to my team if possible. Like we all know, we have a very close relationship with the Puskas Academy, so I would also like this style to be played by the teams there, so that the youngsters can have that mentality later on in the senior side. That is to play the game with many passes and with an attacking style. I would like as many people as possible to enjoy our playing style, and for as many as possible to come out to the stadium. Football is a sport, but at the same time it needs to be an attractive entertainment, and people will only come out to the stadium, if they are well entertained. This in short is my coaching philosophy.

What is your message and what can you promise the Videoton supporters?

I would ask from the supporters to back the team further, and in return I will promise that the team will always do its best and give its maximum, to try and make this thinking become a reality. I would like the team to play entertaining and attacking football. I know that the supporters really want this. I am sure that I will be able to create a good relationship with them!
