The first team squad will train on Wednesday evening ahead of the big game on Thursday
Paulo Sousa held his final training session in Hungary for the current year on Tuesday morning. The squad then travelled over to Budapest, together with the coaching staff, to check in at Budapest airport, ahead of their journey to the Portuguese capital city of Lisbon. The Airbus A320 took off at 14:35 via a short stop over in Prague. However, the team were in good spirits for Thursday's important and final group match.
Some of the players were a little tired after a 6 hour journey, with some of them choosing to watch a film on board, while there were those who read a book, and some who decided to close their eyes for a well earned rest. The plane touched down at Lisbon airport at 19:30pm local time, with the local weather a nice 14c compared to the cold -2c that the squad left behind them in Budapest. The weather is expected to remain around 14-15c for the rest of the week. However, there could be some rain ahead!
The local media were waiting in the airport arrival lounge as the players came out. There were several journalists, photographers, and tv crews present. It felt a little as if Videoton had arrived for the Champions league final. Centre of attention were manager Paulo Sousa and defender Marco Caneira, which was understandable as they were travelling back home. The interest is expected to remain for the training session, which will be held at the Lisbon stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Videoton squad will have their dinner at 20:35 in the hotel, situated in the city centre, on Tuesday evening, before going to their rooms to get some rest. The team will then go for a walk about on Wednesday morning, before a rest in the afternoon. A press conference will be held at around 20:05pm before a training session on the main pitch. Naturally, vidi.hu will keep everyone fuly up to date.
