Videoton completed the job in hand on Wednesday evening, to progress in to the semi-finals of the Hungarian cup. They did it in a professional way, playing with tactics and a game plan, which has become the base of recent Videoton performances. Paulo Sousa's side went into the match with a healthy 5-1 first leg lead. In truth, that was never going to be in danger and a single first half Peric goal, further increased the overall aggregate score. The game proved a serious warm up to Sunday's big home OTP League match with Debrecen. Tujvel returned in goal, with Vasko deputizing for Caneira at the heart of the defence. Szolnoki continued at left back, while there was a normal look to the Vidi midfield. Young istvan Kovacs began the match, with Evandro partnering Milan Perics, who made his debut for Videoton in the attack.

EARLY GOAL SILENCED THE HOME CROWD

Perhaps things were made easier by the fact that Vidi were already a goal up after just 11 minutes, at the home of second in the table, Győri ETO. Gyurcso pulled the ball back for Mitrovics, who cleverly curled the ball into the box, where Perics was waiting to guide his header past Stevanovics. It was the first senior goal from Milan Perics, who arrived in the winter break from Kaposvar. Mitrovics deserves credit for the way he found Perics in the build up to the goal. The early goal also silenced the home crowd, who became frustrated as the match went on.

VIDI WILL FACE MTK IN THE SEMI FINALS

There was a very poor attendance inside ETO park, with veryfew locals believing their side had a chance of going through. Vidi went on to dominate following the opener. They protected their lead, safe in the knowledge that their 5-1 first leg lead was always going to be enough to secure a semi-final tie with MTK. That impressive first leg lead also meant that several players could be rested by Paulo Sousa, ahead of Sunday's home game with the league leaders. Hector also featured after he replaced Toth at the break, while youngster Margitics also enjoyed first team action, after he replaced Gyurcso on the hour mark. The home side tried to create chances, but their final ball was rarely good enough to get through the strong visiting defence, with Vasko and Vinicius looking comfortable at the back. So Vidi now face a two-legged affair with second division side MTK, who easily beat Bekescsaba in the other quarter final.
