Paulo Sousa: "I am very proud of my team. The expectations that I had, and that I wanted to see from my team before the game, was out there on the pitch. This was especially the case in the first hour of the match. We also managed to create several chances against stronger opponents. Basel showed their strength by scoring a goal from thefew chances they had, which saw them win the game. We had many chances, but we did not succeed in converting them. We had discipline and played well despite this. If we take nto consideration that this was the first match of the year, then it gives us plenty of hope to work with. The difference between the two sides meant that due to some new players within the team, the link up play between the defence and midfield lines, as well as the play between the forwards was not as good as it was in the first part of the match. Our opponents knew exactly after each change what was going to happen, and what player will come on, and how they can blend into the side."

Heiko Vogel: "The players were very tired, as they had trained a lot, and played in several games. We managed to still win despite this. We played a very tough game against the Hungarian champions. I am pleased that my players showed that they are good in this. It was very important that we did not concede a goal today, even if it was only a friendly match."
