Switzerland beat a Montenegro side 2-0, which included Mladen Bozovics, in Basel on Tuesday evening. Montenegro were already assured of a second place finish, having drawn 2-2 with England in Podgorica on Friday. Switzerland were hopingto cement third place in the group, but they could find no way past Bozovics and his defence in the first half. The breakthrough came in the 51st minute when Derdiyok put the hosts ahead. The lead was extended in the 65th minute with a Lichtsteiner goal making the game safe for the Swiss. Bozovics and Montenegro now face a play off match to determine whether they will feature at next summer's 2012 tournament in Poland and the Ukraine.
