Videoton FC secured a League cup group C home win over Honved on Wednesday evening. Paulo Sousa fielded a mixed side, made up of youth and experience, to overcome a relatively strong Honved side. Tujvel kept his place in goal, while recent new signing Apostolopoulos partnered Vinicius at the heart of the home defence. Youngster Margitics came in at right back, with Hector on the other side of the defence. Polonkai, Vasziljevics and Mitrovics made up the central midfield positions, with Nagy out on the right wing, and Evandro on the left. Nemanja Nikolics played up front on his own to complete the line up. The game began with Vidi playing better, but it was Honved who had the first chance of the game. A free kick from the right by Hajdu was well held by the alert Tujvel.

The game became more balanced with Honved trying hard to close down the open areas. Vaszilevics played Evandro nicely in, with the latter shot just wide of the post. Daniel Nagy had a good chance on 37 minutes, with Santa doing well to save that effort. Polonkai had the final chance of the first half, hitting the ball wide of the target, with the teams going in at the break at 0-0. Paulo Sousa made no changes at the break, while the visitors brought on recent new signing Sandor Torghelle. The 49th minute saw Honved's Ivancsis failing to test Tujvel from 25 meters out. The game then turned on 56 minutes with Honved's Mfon bringing down Evandro close to the touchline, giving referee Bocskei no alternative but to send him off. The match had been fairly clean up to that moment, with little sign of the match ending up with 3 sending off's in total. Patrik Kiraly replaced Mitrovics in midfield after 65 minutes. Evandro became the second man to see red, for his challenge on Abbas after 66 minutes. 

Videoton took the lead in the 69th minute after Vasziljevics cleverly played in Daniel Nagy, who kept his composure to calmy slip the ball wide of the keeper and into the corner of the net. 1-0! A defensive error allowed Torghelle to steal in behind the defence to intercept a bad back pass and make it 1-1. The 79th minute saw the third and final sending off with Honved's Bjelkanovics reducing the visitors to 9 men. The winning goal came in the 92nd minute with Oliveira's cross being headed home by Nikolics to secure the win.
