Pal Lazar played at right back for Hungary against Holland
Hungary boarded a flight straight back to Budapest, following Tuesday evening's 5-3 defeat in Amsterdam. The Plane carrying the Hungarian squad landed at Ferihegy airport at 3am. Videoton's right back lives in the capital, so he did not have too far to travel. However, it was close to 5am when he finally fell asleep! He then emerged in Videoton's dressing room four hours later at 9am. He went through a light training session to shake off the previous evening's muscles.
Pal Lazar: "Many were looking for us to produce a more respectable performance following Friday's 4-0 home defeat. However, no one would have imagined that we would score three goals away in Amsterdam, against the world cup finalists," began the defender. "We realised in the first half that we could create chances against them. We agreed at half time that we were capable of getting more out of the match. We went out in the second half looking to improve. I am disappointed and sad that we were not able to get even a single point from the game. I felt that we deserved at least that from the performance that we gave. I would like to point out that it felt really good to hear the support of the Hungarian fans in the stadium. Thank you!"
