Alves will stay with Videoton with another Brazilian possibly arriving

None of the players will be leaving the club to go abroad, but there could be arrivals before the end of February

Despite transfer speculation over the last month and a half regarding Vidi striker Andre Alves, the Brazilian will remain with the club over the coming spring season. "I understand the players current lethargic state, which has been created as a result that he was unable to get the transfer abroad." - said manager Gyorgy Mezey. "I would have allowed him to leave, but his price tag was so high, that no one came in to get him. However, it is also true that no one even tried to bargain down the fee. They spoke to him daily about the situation, and I know that as he gets older, he feels that he has to make that move. Despite all of this speculation, he has worked hard in the  training camp, and he is a good person to have around, and everyone likes him, and he gets on well with all. He is very valuable to us, and I will say once again that I understand his feelings to leave." The Brazilian forward is by no means broken. "No tragedy has happened due to me not being able to go. I will stay with Videoton, and I will help push the club forward over the spring season. I hope that I manage to once again score plenty of goals, and help the club to the league title." - said Alves.

There are two players whose contracts expire in the summer, and who received interest during the transfer window period: Goran Vujovics and Marko Andics are the two concerned. Both players have yet to agree new deals with the football club. We will continue to try to get new contract extensions over the spring. "Vujovics' career with Videoton has had unlucky periods, as each time he got fit and started to score goals, he received an injury, which kept him out for months at a time. He is currently fit, and has show a great desire to work hard. I hope that we can agree deals with both the players, and that they will continue their careers here." - continued Mezey. "There was interest in the two players from several clubs. One of those was Ujpest, who were looking at a possible loan deal, but the manager felt that loaning both of them out until the summer, would be suicidal."

"I am convinced that starting with Liptak, Elek and Bozsovics, all the way to Vasziljevics, will create plenty of interest in the summer, and that there is every chance that they will leave. However complimentary this is to the club, there will always be clubs who offer higher level of football and better financial packages. We have covered possible players who may leave the club. Let's look at possible arrivals. "There are several players in Hungary, who I would gladly like to see at Videoton, but we can not bring them. We have spoken to players whose contracts expire in the summer, and where there is a chance that they will continue their career with Videoton. However, we were unable to agree terms with them as they are looking at unreasonable amounts. There will be one player arriving to the Spanish training camp, and he is a Brazilian forward, who we would like to look at." - concluded Gyorgy Mezey. The domestic transfer window closes on the 21st February.
