The Hungarian Nemzeti Sport newspaper carried an article on Vidi striker Andre Alves
Nemzeti Sport: Andre Alves has began his third week of pre-season training with Videoton, which could also mean that the club's management have yet to agree on any deal involving the Brazilian striker. The future of fellow striker Martin Mutumba is still not clear, although there were reports linking him with a loan deal away from the club. Videoton spent last week training by the banks of nearby Lake Balaton, and then played their first pre-season friendly, which ended in a 1-1 draw with FK Spartak Zlatibor Voda. Gyorgy Mezey had previously mentioned that his players would each be getting a half each to play in that friendly. However, Andre Alves asked his manager whether he could play the entire match, as there were scouts watching from a South Korean club. "Andre Alves asked me himself if he could remain on the pitch after half time. He wanted to show the watching scouts what he was capable of." - said Manager Gyorgy Mezey. As to whether any negotiations commenced following that friendly match? The manager went on to say that to the best of his knowledge, there was none. "I suggested to the scouts to stay for a few days, and watch the player in training, before watching Wednesday's friendly game with Slovan Bratislava. However, we have not yet had a reply. I have also heard that a German agent about possible interest from a Turkish side...."
As to which Turkish side, the agent did not mention, but we did hear earlier that Bursaspor were interested in signing Andre Alves on a two and a half year deal, involving a potential 1,5 million euro transfer fee. One thing certain is that things may speed up during the week, as the transfer window closes on the 31st January. If nothing can be agreed by then, then the Brazilian may carry on with Videoton, and possibly sign for a side in South Korea.
While Andre Alves may leave the Fehervar side after two and a half years, Martin Mutumba has been with the red and blues for seven months now. The Ugandan born winger, joined Vidi from Swedish side AIK Solna in the summer of 2010. However, he has had problems adjusting to life in Hungary ever since. He made a total of three league appearances, totalling seventy minutes, so there would be no surprise if he were to leave the club on a loan deal, as his current contract runs until the summer of 2013. Mutumba did not take part in the training camp in Balaton last week, which suggests that the coaching staff do not count on him.
