It's back to training for the majority of Vidi players

The full squad will be back in training on Monday

A total of 14 players turned up at training this morning, as manager Gyorgyi Mezey held his first session of 2011. There were several players still missing, especially those players who have not yet returned from other countries. The manager watched over training on the astro-turf pitch, besides the main stadium as Lázár, Elek, Lipták, Vaskó, Sándor, Somodi, Ízing, Szolnoki, Nagy, Polonkai and Farkas all took part. The one hour training session was made up of mainly domestic based players, as several are still abroad, and are due to return at the weekend. Club coaches Balazs Beko and Tamas Bodog were also missing. "We decided to start training earlier as there will be a lot of administration work ahead for the side. New rules may come into force, which have a lot to do with the contracts. As this is both complicated and time consuming, I decided that those players wishing to report back to training earlier could do so. That will help some of them win time when it comes to discussions later on. I would like us to go away on our one week training camp in Hungary, in the knowledge that the players can only be concentrating on the work on the training pitch." - explained manager Gyorgy Mezey.

Further changes to the pre-season campaign were also disclosed, and one of those was a change of location, from the original planned one week stay in Matra, to nearby Balatonalmadi instead. "With the weather currently around minus ten, and with snow still due to fall, it would not have been possible to have held two outdoor training sessions. However, the new location gives us the chance to train indoors. We will also be holding outdoor session in Almadi." The training camp planned for either Spain or Portugal is also being worked on. The exact location should be decided this week, and it could be around the Cadiz area, in Spain, or over in Portugal, near Faro and the Algarve. Discussions are also ongoing about possible opponents during the training camp over there. Cadiz CF and Xerez are two possibilities if Spain is decided on. There is still no news on any potential opposition in Portugal.

Further friendly games in Hungary are also being worked on at the moment. One match that will go ahead is the friendly at the Sostoi stadium, on the 26th January, when Slovan Bratislava provide the opposition. That game is due to kick off at 14:00pm. Further talks with Nafta Lendava and Zlatibor Voda are also ongoing. January 22nd has been pencilled in for the possible friendly against Lendava, with the 27th January being the preferred date for the Zlatibor fixture. There is also the chance that there will be a further friendly match against Hungarian side Győri ETO on the 29th January.

With regard to changes in the squad, manager Gyorgy Mezey mentioned that a team from Qatar had enquired about taking Andre Alves on a 5 month loan deal. However, the club will not be negotiating on the player leaving. There were two new faces in the morning training session. Talented youngsters Bence Somodi and Martin Izing both joined in and the duo will spend the spring season training with the first team in Fehervar. "Both players performed well over the autumn season" explained the manager. "Goalkeeper Somodi took part in several training sessions towards the end of the season. I would like to have four keepers available over the pre-season period. I make no secret of finding suitable youth players to make the step up. It is also a fact that Tomas Tujvel's contract will expire in the summer. Izing came into my thinking as he is a central defender and we are short of numbers in that position."
