The event proved a success as almost 150 former Hungarian international footballers met up at the Ferenc Puskas stadium. They took part in the centenary remembrance celebrations. 

The Hungarian FA Vice President opened the event with a speech, which was also attended by two members of the Hungarian golden side of the 1950's, Gyula Grocics and Jeno Buzanszky. There were also current members of Sandor Egervari's improving national side, with goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly and Vilmos Vanczak turning up. Sandor Berzi and Sandor Egervari both laid a wreath by the memorial at the stadium. They then sang the national anthem before heading off to the Arena hotel for a joint dinner. The participants gave a special ovation to 92 year old Laszlo Gyetvai, who represented his country on 17 occasions between 1938 and 1942.
